Shortie summer kimono jacket in patchwork silks
Background image is from a range of small murals featuring Peruvian plant spirits painted in the tropical biome of Eden Project, Cornwall. Bromeliad Colita de Gavilan (Billbergia sp.) is depicted as the headdress of the spirit.
- Fabrics came from two dresses with interesting border prints with circular motifs positioned for sleeve edging.
- Blue was chosen as a contrast colour, by adding blue patch on to top of collar.
- Kimono type collar is created by wide strip sewn to neck and front edgings. Using a seam at back neck, a slope can be created by cutting at an angle, narrower at top back neck.
- Sleeves are simply slits in a large rectangle, which has an added 4 inch strip (blue tartan) inset below armhole space for better shaped fit.
