Cutting motifs from old textile design tracings, then rearranging and taping behind silk frame into a new design. Hold screen up to sunlight or use a lightbox. Its possible to work outside without a lightbox (as done here), propping frame up with sun directly behind, so images are clear.
Drawing out (tracing) designs with water soluble pen. The lines will wash out with steam fixing of silk.
Marking motif outlines with gutta resist application to prevent dye spreading into 'white motifs' when applied to background.
Painting of motif internal lines of definition on angels, leaves and flowers. I do this freehand, but they could be traced if unfamiliar.
Taupe was used as the sole colour to match the taupe fabric coordinates.
